A lovely, extremely rare 1906 Steinway & Sons 88-note 54" Model I upright piano from the Golden Age of Steinway piano-making. We love this model of a Steinway & Sons upright - the 54" model I upright was only made for a relatively short period of time. We love the aesthetic style of the model I, and we are excited to have completed the restoration of this unique piano. At 54" tall, this model is impressive, and our restoration has returned this piano to all its original glory. This was one of the final 54" tall uprights as Steinway moved from 54" uprights down to the 52" Steinway K. Picarzo Pianos completes a full Level 7 (highest level) restorations of these classic Steinway upright pianos with the goal of each piano lasting another 100 years, in order to become an heirloom for the next family's successive generations. Most upright restorations you see of these unique pianos do not include new soundboards, new pinblocks, new actions, etc. because the cost becomes prohibitive to the restorer/dealer. We think there is a demand for the antique models restored correctly, which haven't been manufactured for over 100 years, and to be made completely new again, which is what we at Picarzo Pianos are now doing. This model I is basically brand new again now that restoration has been completed with all new musical components, including new soundboard, new pinblock, new action, and new polyester transparent high gloss finish. This piano will be the showpiece of any living room. Please contact us with any questions, or to make an offer. |
How this piano may be different from other pianos you are considering |
Rare - Model I Upright Pianos are very rare and combine craftmanship with elegance in a wonderful looking piano. We find the old Steinway upright models to be much more appealing than the current model K's because of this additional eye-catching craftsmanship, with tasteful molding throughout the exterior. This model has not been manufactured in over a 100 years. Quality - Steinways are considered the gold standard of American-made luxury pianos because of their impressive scale designs and the tones that these designs generate. Price - New ebony K's are priced over $50K, and there are no similar restorations of these Steinway antique models. Lower priced Steinway upright restorations currently available for sale are typically inadequate as instruments in either the finish, the acoustic, or the action restoration. Exterior Restoration - This piano now has a new high gloss polyester mahogany finish. This model I has the classic golden age look of 19th century Steinways with that extra eye-catching molding throughout. A very striking piano. |
When you buy a Steinway piano | Steinway pianos have been synonymous with quality, beauty and luxury for over 150 years, a reputation well earned. Steinway pianos are considered the elite pianos, where, similar to Rolex watches, the main competition for a new Steinway piano is not a competitor, but rather a pre-owned Steinway piano. Each handcrafted Steinway piano has over 12,000 mechanical parts and, when assembled or restored by expert technicians, the Steinway piano is elegant and tonally gorgeous. Steinway piano designs are timeless, with many of their current model scale designs being over 100 years old. Even 100+ year old Steinway pianos play today, although these pianos had to withstand incredibly harsh and inconsistent indoor conditions for most of the 1900's. (Now with climate-controlled (temperature and humidity) homes, Steinway pianos made, or properly restored, after 1990 may conceivably last 200 years in current home environments.) Although Steinway prices are high compared to other pianos, Steinway pianos have enduring value over time, much more so than competitors’ pianos. When you buy a Steinway piano, you are buying a very special piano that will last you and your family a long, long time. |
