Details

Bösendorfer pianos, established in 1828, are considered among the elite five piano makers in the world. This Bösendorfer piano is for the pianist who would appreciate a restored polished ebony 1919 Bösendorfer 88-note 3-pedal 5'7" model 170 grand piano from the Golden Age of piano-making. This model 170, because of its size, is one of the most popular Bösendorfer home pianos as its size will allow it to fit in most rooms. This Bösendorfer has been restored to showroom condition in Europe.

The piano has recently finished restoration and is virtually indistinguishable from a new piano. Definitely one of the loveliest model 170's we have ever seen, with polished brass accents throughout (pedals, casters, hinges) and it plays and sounds like a dream. This model 170 is in a high-gloss polyester ebony finish, with a restored soundboard, new bridges, new pinblock, new agraffes, all new German action components, new Ivo-Plast key covers, and all the hardware polished/replated. The tone is powerful and lively, the action is smooth, and the case is unbelievably beautiful.

How this piano may be different from other pianos you are considering

Rare in the US - Very few Bosendorfer pianos exist for sale in any condition in the US, and a like new Bosendorfer model 170 in this classic style is, in practical terms, one of a kind in the US.

Quality - Bosendorfer pianos are in the Elite 5 of piano makers - with Bluthner, Bosendorfer, Fazioli and Hamburg Steinway, all of which are European. The quality of pianos from these 5 makers is considered the best in the world.

Price - New Bosendorfer model 170's are priced over $145K, and the only other pre-owned Bosendorfer pianos available for sale in the US are typically 25 years of age or older.

Craftsmen - We had this piano restored in Europe by European craftsmen who have been restoring European and Steinway pianos for decades. We have tried several piano restorers over the years, and these are among the best restorers in the world, in our opinion.

Restoration - This piano has an ebony polyester finish, which creates a visually stunning piano for the discerning pianist and homeowner. The instrument has been restored to new condition, with a restored soundboard, new bridges, new pinblock, new strings, new agraffes, new pins, new keytops, new Renner action parts (hammers, shanks, flanges, wippens, damper action).

First Owner - You would be the first owner of this fully restored piano. Buying a pre-owned, formerly restored piano is doubly risky as you don't know who restored what on the piano and when, and you also don't know how the current owner treated the piano since the restoration was completed.

Tone and Feel - This particular Bosendorfer piano is the pinnacle of piano making in our opinion. The European tone and feel of this piano is unrivaled, in our opinion, even among the greatest piano makers in the world.
