This Steinway 6'11" model B in Rosewood is a high performing musical instrument. We received this piano from our client who purchased a Yamaha C7 from us. Our client purchased this piano restored c. 2006-2007, and the restoration was extensive. The restorer used all new Steinway action parts, the soundboard appears to have been replaced as well as the bridge caps, pin block, tuning pins, strings, and keytops. Our master technician has optimized the performance of this piano and this Steinway B piano plays/sounds amazing! We are offering this Steinway B at a low price, due to 1) being a historical 85-note Steinway B, 2) the case is a B to B+, with some interesting case parts, and 3) there was an electronic player system added and then removed from this piano at some point. A new Steinway B in east indian rosewood polish currently goes for over $225,000. Please contact us for more details or to make an offer. |
| How this piano may be different from other pianos you are considering |
Rare - Very few model Steinway B's from this vintage have ever been restored to this level of detail and finish, and almost never become available for sale. Quality - Steinways are considered the gold standard of American-made luxury pianos because of their impressive scale designs and the tones that these designs generate. Price - New East Indian Rosewood B's are sold with a new price of over $225K. This restoration is just like a new piano. Lower priced Steinway B restorations currently available for sale are typically only partially restored. Dealers typically economize in restorations of Steinway pianos (keeping the old soundboard, bridges, agraffes, repetitions, and/or damper action) to be able to keep the price low, but are sacrificing the quality, performance and longevity of the restored instrument. Instrument Restoration - This piano is mostly restored - the damper action is original but functions well. (95% of restored pianos for sale are only partially restored.) Pianos are not fully restored, in our opinion, unless they have undergone a full acoustic restoration, including a new soundboard, new bridges, new pinblock, new strings, and new agraffes (usually overlooked) and a full action restoration, including new hammers, new shanks, new flanges, new repetitions, and new damper action (overlooked as well). The reason these components need replacement is that they are made primarily of thin pieces/layers of wood, including the soundboard, or metal, like the agraffes, that lose their physical/chemical properties over a century, and wear down/warp over time. Replacement is the best option for these thin wood and metal parts that are vital to the performance and longevity of the restored instrument. |
| When you buy a Steinway piano | Steinway pianos have been synonymous with quality, beauty and luxury for over 150 years, a reputation well earned. Steinway pianos are considered the elite pianos, where, similar to Rolex watches, the main competition for a new Steinway piano is not a competitor, but rather a pre-owned Steinway piano. Each handcrafted Steinway piano has over 12,000 mechanical parts and, when assembled or restored by expert technicians, the Steinway piano is elegant and tonally gorgeous. Steinway piano designs are timeless, with many of their current model scale designs being over 100 years old. Even 100+ year old Steinway pianos play today, although these pianos had to withstand incredibly harsh and inconsistent indoor conditions for most of the 1900's. (Now with climate-controlled (temperature and humidity) homes, Steinway pianos made, or properly restored, after 1990 may conceivably last 200 years in current home environments.) Although Steinway prices are high compared to other pianos, Steinway pianos have enduring value over time, much more so than competitors’ pianos. When you buy a Steinway piano, you are buying a very special piano that will last you and your family a long, long time. |
