Bruce Hollingsworth - An Unmatched Piano Refinisher
Bruce Hollingsworth has been refinishing pianos in the Tampa Bay area for over 25 years. Bruce's specialty is refinishing Steinway pianos, but also accepts other high quality pianos (e.g., Bosendorfer and Bluthner) and family heirlooms of any brand. In the 1990s, Bruce traveled to the Steinway factory in New York to review the processes for how the finishes were created at the Steinway factory.
Bruce's process for renovating the appearance of a piano starts with completely disassembling the piano. All of the finish is stripped to bare wood with all parts being sanded to precision. All veneers are repaired or replaced. Bruce uses grain fill for clear pianos and primer for pianos finished in color (e.g., ebony). Each restoration is sealed and finished with a flawless clear coat. Lacquer finishes can be buffed to a high gloss shine or rubbed out for a satin luster finish. Bruce can also provide a urethane finish that is a very durable finish. Bruce's refinishing shop consists of 3000 square feet and is located in the St. Petersburg area of Florida.
